Today is only the second time, since doing Crossfit, that I haven't PR'ed on a Wod. I know exactly why too. This last week has been anything but "in the Zone" I have justified many a cheat meal or treat, and I saw the side effects today. I did Barbara in 23:41 working time. My previous PR was 22:05. That is 1:36 off my PR. This is an eternity in Crossfit time. I was slightly slowed on the squats, pull ups weren't a problem, but the pushups and especially sit-ups really got me. I was hopeful going into this one, but I should have been more realistic. Adding a couple of pounds doesn't hurt your deadlift, but it sure does mess up these body weight WoDs. All the focus on the strength lately has softened my bodyweight abilities. My warm-up has also shifted a bit to more skill based elements, resulting in less daily practice of sit-ups and pushups, but I think it has more to do with my diet the last 7-10 days.
Now the question is, "what will I do with this?". I can continue and get stronger and heavier, or try to fight for the balance of bar strength and body weight strength. Mostly, I need to stick to the Zone if I want to continue to see the benefits I want. This was still a good workout and it pushed me, I just didn't push back hard enough.
