Today I convinced jason to join me for a virtual competition of Linda. Little did I know what an awakening this would be.

This is a pathetic time and the more i see it the more frustrated i get with it. I KNOW I should have been able to get in the 30's, but I let the deadlift get into my head. The Bench press was surprisingly manageable. I held back a shade without a spotter, but did not struggle much here. The cleans were a little tougher, but I also held back my pace here to avoid sapping my posterior chain for the upcoming deadlifts. Oh, the deadlifts. Here is where my insufficiency with the deadlift protocol kicked my rear. The first set was unbroken, then it went down hill fast. I had problem after problem and took way too many rests and failed to put multiple reps together. I was really frustrated with this and it became all I could focus on for each of the other exercises: "How is this going to affect me in 2 min on the deads?" I am going to go back and read the Starting strength book on deadlifts.
One of the pieces of advice i got at Crossfit Coronado has, i feel, limited my progress here. Ben, the trainer, corrected my form mid WoD by telling me my butt was to low and to go more horizontal. in a quick re-read i find this inaccurate. I'll practice with closer to a 45 degree angle in the back and see if that helps me maintain lumbar curve more. That, as much as grip on the bar, is what held me back.
Aside from my time, I was able to move 35,750 lbs or 17.875 tons today. Not bad for a disappointing WoD.
