After 3 days off (more than I can ever remember taking) and a killer PT session, I got back on the horse with a body weight WoD: Tabata Something Else. I wanted a PR, but I also wanted to avoid making things worse. I was prepared to lighten up on intensity, or avoid an element if needed. Surprisingly, it was the kip on the situps that was the only painful movement. That just means I had to do strict situps for the most part. We did do anchored, but that really doesn't seem to make a big difference for me, I still suck at them.
My last score was 384, today I got 429, a PR by 45!!!
The key for me was consistency and not blowing my wad too early.
Pullups 10x8rds - probably could do 11 or 12 next time, but was a good starting point given the unknown of my neck
Pushups 12x8rds - I started to fatigue towards the end, but kept my reps up. Maybe go for 13x8 next time.
Sit-ups 12x7rds and 1 round at 10, without a kip, I couldn't possibly get the 14 I wanted, but I was still pretty happy to keep it up at 12 with strict situps
Squats 21,20,20,20,20,20,19,19, The last 2 rounds were mental breaks. I was so close to the 160 goal, but missing by only 1 rep isn't too bad.
With a total of 429, I can see how every point counts. I stopped very early in the early rounds to save myself on pushups and pullups, but pushing that a tad more will get me closer to 450. 21 reps wouldn't be too hard to add if I could add 1 rep to each set of the first three tabatas. That would be 24 right there.
Next try:
Pullups 12x8
pushups 13x8
Situps 14x8
squats 20x8
