Today was back squats 5-5-5-5-5. I started at 255 and worked my way up to 305. I thought my max previous was in the high 200's, so I was shooting for 305 x5. I didn't want to fail on any, so as to get an official 5 rep max. I hit that, and was pretty happy, until I checked my numbers from last time. Last time I failed on my 4th of 5 reps on 305. MAN! Had I known that, I would have pushed for 310 or 315. Either way, I established a new 5RM with certainty.
After a frustrating performance on the 30 muscle ups, I now have a new project. I am going to add in muscle ups to any workout that doesn't already tax my upperbody significantly (or take too long) I'll start with the rowing kind, since I can get more reps in and still work on the same areas of strength and coordination, then progress to standard muscle ups when the rowing kind are easier. I did this with double unders and it worked pretty well. I am now able to complete 20-40 du's consecutively with relative ease. Hopefully Mups will show the same progress. Today I did 15 reps broken into sets of 1-3. The hardest part for me is stringing multiple together. I have a hard time keeping a false grip when coming down and the rowing motion makes this a little harder. Anyhow, I'm going to keep pushing this until I own it.
BTW: I am headed to get a contrast arthrogram (MRI) on Thursday for my left shoulder. I have been having the same kind of impingement pain as I had in my R 3 years ago. Hopefully it is nothing and I can work through it. We'll see.
