I did a 15 mile bike ride throught the Estrella moutains on Sunday. It was a great workout and a nice diversion. Truly cross training. Then we had Helen on Monday. Maybe all of the hill work on Sunday wasn't such a good idea. The 400meter runs and KB swings killed me. I could definately feel the burn earlier than expected. I still finished in 10:43, roughly 2 minutes faster than last time (but 1 second slower than Jason). I started thinking about whether or not I should rest areas of my body in prep for a specific workout. But, if we are training for the unknowable, isn't it possible that I will have to jumpr really high or run really fast 2 hours after "Karen"? Maybe it is a good thing to occasionally overtax an area to prepare it for the truly unknowable. So, I document on the effects of the ride, and expect a better time next time around, if I haven't done a ride beforehand again.
Today was deadlifts, 1-1-1-1-1-1-1. I wanted to get a PR today. I mean I really WANTED to get a PR. I worked my way up to 180, a PR by 5 lbs. I had hoped for 185, but someone glued it to the floor before I tried to lift it. Then I worked on my overhead squats with midline stabalization. It is hard to remember all of the cues: knees over toes, on your heels, tighten your midline, butt back, etc. But, I did get through some reps with good form, I think. I'll add that in with some work on the jerk landing when possible. Maybe I can get more comfortable with overhead lifts.
I am not particularly excited about barbara tomorrow.
