The deadlift is one of the "slow lifts". That means there is no exploding, just a slow lift off the floor and into the top of the range. Well, today there was barely any movement at all. I have been stuck at 375 for a while with my dead lift and I really wanted to get past it today. I was working on NOT rounding the back and keeping good form. Rip is right when he says it is a core workout. It takes a lot of core work to keep that back straight throughout the lift. I got up 375, but ugly. I kept my back straight, but worked the angles wrong and wasn't fully opened at the hip when I hit the top. I couldn't get 375 to budge off the floor a second time. 385 was laughing at me from the corner, saying " you got no business thinking about me for a while." I don't know if my form is off, my start position, or maybe the weight is just too heavy. In any case, I still need to work on it for a while before it goes anywhere.
I have also been working on Boz's HSPU progress with good results. I have been using the box for my feet while working on opening the shoulders. I am up to 5 sets of 5-6 reps with improving range. Maybe next week I will work on full HSPU without the box.
