...I didn't compete in the qualifiers. This was my first WoD with a snatch and it had 45 of them. One of the regional qualifiers had a WoD of:
21-15-9
95 lb squat snatch
chest to bar pullups
Both of these are things I haven't done in a WoD before. I spent my warm up time working on the burgner warm up and the skill transfers then working my way up to a 95 pound snatch. I started the WoD with 95 pounds, but got throught the first 15/21 and realized that I was missing too many reps and I should drop down. I stuck with 85 and did much better. It was definitely related to my stability in the low squat landing, not strength, but you have to start somewhere. I was definitely working against the clock, but I also made sure to take my time to get form right and avoid trying too much and missing dangerously. I had some pretty UGLY snatches and I really needed bumpers. I almost had a catastrophic posterior miss that would have taken me and the weight into the weight tree 5 feet behind me. One forward drop caught the whole gym's attention, but I just kept on rolling. The chest to bar pull ups were tough, but I mostly only felt it on the grip, given what the snatch does to my grip. BTW, the hook grip was AWESOME on this one. I even used it on the pullups. I really did like this WoD and I want to work on snatches more, but this was a good start.
