When there is a short workout, we do more stuff ahead of time. Today we worked on Push Jerk after some general warm up. I SUCK at push jerk. I cannot seem to get a lockout overhead and it has a lot to do with my limited elbow extension. I am about -5 degrees B and it keeps me from locking out overhead easily. I got to 175 and tried to manage it several times. I got it successfully, but not with as much grace as it should have been. Then we did max reps at 135 and I got 13. Big Mike got 23. I really rely too much on shoulders for the Jerk and not enough on efficiency of movement. I hope the cert helps this.
Then Annie
50-40-30-20 and 10 rep rounds of:
Double-unders
Sit-ups (ancoured with abmat)
7:09
I did well on double unders, only missing one time on 50 and 40 and a quick return to reps. The sit-ups killed me. I just cannot seem to rep fast on situps. I get tired and feel like it becomes a resistive exercise instead of just body weight. I really need to work on faster sits. I will probably do this as one of the wods when in mexico. Maybe 5 rounds of 40 sits and 30 pushups (I'm also thinking about 150 burpees for time, if we have showers). I don't know if I am trying to sit up too much at the top of the sit, or not being efficient with my arms, or just slow. I should have been sub 7 easily, but it didn't happen.
Tomorrow we leave for the Cert. I am hopeful that I come away with some pointers and progress, as well as tips on how to train others.
