I felt crummy the last few days. I took off Wednesday and Thursday. I can't remember the last time I took off 2 consecutive days. I still have a head cold, but I was not going to take off a third day (against my wife's insistence). It was a pretty good day for me to ease back into things.
After a warm up of strict chest to bar pullups, pushups and pistols, we worked on a progression of Snatch press, heaving snatch balance, ad snatch balance (not sure I got all of the names right). Think of it as the SP, PP, PJ progression with the bar on your back in a snatch grip. The first movement is a slow press into the bottom of a snatch with little to no bar movement. Movement 2 is a little more weight and a small jump then ride the weight down. End with a third movement that is a fast drop under the bar with even more weight and land in the bottom of the snatch. I suck at the last movement, but it was great practice. It is hard for me to commit to the bottom, but I need to hit that if I am going to get better at a snatch.
Then a try at Diane
I did it in 8:21. A PR and an interesting one, since I felt groggy and off my game. I actually slowed my pace a bit to keep from getting light headed. I know that I could have gone a touch faster on the DL (not my fastest try) and take out some breaks for dizziness and I could go sub 8 or even 7 next time. SWEET!
