DingleBerry's on Parade

"Linda"
10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 reps of the triplet:
Deadlift: 1 1/2 body weight--210
Bench press: body weight--140
Clean: 3/4 body weight--105

I needed to take my van in this morning to get it serviced and was afraid that I would not have time to do the above WOD, however, Tommy offered to pick me up at the dealership and we could tackle it together. We went to the gym close to the dealership and setup.
Tommy went first, during Tommy's go at Linda I coud see some guys watching us like we were crazy. The were spending most of their time talking and doing pullovers supine across a bench.
During Tommy's cleans this was the conversation we hade;

Dingleberry: (To his friend) Is that necessary? (In reference to Tommy dropping the cleans as he was tired)
Me: Hey, He is tired!!
Dingleberry: Yea, but is it still necessary?
Me: No it is not necessary he is tired, Would you like to try it?
Dingleberry: No words, just layed supine on the bench and continued with his pullovers.

As I watched him and his friend, they talked the entire rest of Tommy's run with Linda. He was on the 4s when this took place and they did not do a thing until he was finished, just talked. I was a little frustrated with this, as they had no idea what we were doing and were acting like the plates being dropped on the floor were interrupting their workout, oh wait their talking. In hindsight I probably should not have come off so rash and explained to the them what we were doing, however, Tommy was busting it out and was full of sweat and did not need that negativness towards the end of Linda. Tommy did great and completed it in 23:51. He did Power Cleans and used my BW numbers. Tommy need to work on those cleans brother.

SUB 30!!!!! That is what I am talking about. I had been texting Josh about sub 30 and was not sure if I was going to be able to. I looked at my watch only once and it was right before the 3s. I do not remeber the time but I knew if I would hurry I could make it. I did not try and conquer all the reps at once, instead I paced myself and broke up the rounds until the 4s. So, I am on cloud 9 today from this WOD. Next time is going to be hard to get below today's numbers but I am sure I can do it.

I Have No Thumbs

So this is the text that I receive from Josh on Friday night

Looking for a WOD? I am going to do "Linda" in am; 3 Bars of Death. Want to to do it too? Virtual Competition?

Of course I accepted the challenge and now I have no thumbs!!!
10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 of
1.5x BW Deadlift (210 lbs)
1x BW Benchpress (140 lbs)
.75 BW Clean (105 lbs)
Time=33:05

I have no thumbs because the "Hook Grip" is my new best friend. The "Hook Grip" for those who do not know is a way to use friction on your thumb in an attempt to keep the bar from slipping out of your hand secondary to weak grip strength. Basically smash your thumb in between the bar and your fingers for 55reps of 210# Deads. The Cleans are what slowed me down. Everything for me was broken up until the round of 4s and down. I actually liked this one and can see myself have a faster time next time as I know what to expect and how I should conserve as much energy for the next exercise.

One thing is for sure I got some weird looks as I was setting up for this one. I thought for sure I was going to get called out on monopolizing 3bars, but I did not. One guy actually watched me the whole 33min. I do not know if he was amazed at what I was doing, waiting to see if I would actually hurt myself or if he thought I was plain dumb. Pretty exciting if you ask me.
