Today was attempts for a 1RM of thrusters with a good warm up of 5,3,2,2,2,1,1,1. I made it to 195. This was a PR by 20 lbs! Very good day with much improved form. We were also supposed to do 100 DU for time, but they have some ghetto ropes so I wasn't too worried about getting this one spot on. The climate was more informal, so I just worked on the form with a different rope. Then I worked on rope climbs. I loved it and have a renewed hatred for towell pull-ups and the poor scaling of 1/foot of ascent. I got lots of good advice on how to improve form on DL, thrusters, rope climb, Turkish get-ups and L-pulls. I hit a push jerk 5 rm, thruster 1rm and got in great Wods for deadlifts and clusters as well as the TGUs. It was definately a good trip at the Affiliate. I just have to transfer all of that to the globo gym and keep the intensity.
I'm going to add in DL and SP heavy days 2x/week and work on gymnastic skills most days. the Invictus site talked about the strength bis/crossfit football and how general fitness is not improved heavily with long, marathon Wods. I will try to keep my Wod's shorter and focus instead on other types of skills and general strength. Most of these sites are saying that that is getting back to the origins of Crossfit. i think I will use the HQ Wods mostly, but adjust if needed. BTW, I missed Grace bacause I was using the affiliate's Wod, but I really wanted to go back and hit that one, as that one has scared me a bit for a while. I definitely need to confront that one.
