decisions, decisions...

When you go off schedule from HQ, you are left with some tough choices. It can be hard to get back into their rhythm, since they are so good aboug mixing things up. Yesterday I made up the one handed DL and PP wod with 4 800m runs. Then Eva posted. She is a cruel one:
5 rds
800m Run
30 KB swings at 2 pood
30 pullups
I was planning on doing something different since my posterior chain and grip were so taxed from 135 lb 1-leg DLs and all of the runs. Then Jason talked me into trying Eva. There is a reason they put her in after a rest day, then CFT. I was only able to muster 3 rounds at 28:17. I should have gone a shade faster and gotten 3 rounds in ~24 minutes, but it wasn't there today. Here is my list of reasons (read: excuses)
1. without a KB, the thick head of a 70lb DB is HARD to hold for 150 reps.
2. my back was starting to give me notices that it was going to start screaming real soon.
3. my run wasn't there after yesterday's WoD
4. the grip tax on KB swings made pullups very broken by round 3
5. I was worried about the safety of launching the KB across the gym at fellow members.
6. I was running out of time. Given my seriously declining round splits, I was looking at a full hour or 50 minutes and I hadn't allowed for that much time.

As I started round 4 I had a mental battle as to finish or not. The number of excuses above got to be too much and I gave in. I don't feel bed for 'quitting' but I do wish I had done a bit better. Oh well, it was still a killer workout. Tomorrow will just be a day working up to a 1RM DL.

I did have a new 1RM for shoulder press. I was totally pumped about getting 170. This is a 10lb increase since my previous at 160. in a shoulder press, those pounds add up slowly, so this is a good increase. I tried 175, but it didn't come off my shoulders more than 3 inches. Next time.
