Feelin' It

I have been training Aubri on Crossfit a lot lately. It is awesome to see her improve and get more confident with new lifts and movements. It is also a great way for me to start to get more comfortable with training. Working with her, however, means we can't always stick to the mainsite WoD. She couldn't handle the massive numbers of pullups today, and the crowd at the gym would not allow for return trips to the t-mill between HSPU (nevermind the room needed for KB swings). This has left me with the task of some scheduling as well.

Today, we started with a buy in of 2 rounds: 20 situps, 50' lunge steps, 20 pushups, 50' lunge steps
Then: I taught her the push jerk with subsequent 3x3 push jerk. She got up to 75 pounds with GOOD progress on form with a good second dip. I hit it hard and got a new PR by 30 lbs!!! I knew I was going to go up, but I hadn't planned on going that big. I have been working on the Jerk form a lot and watching a lot of videos. My last 1RM was 175 and my 3RM at Invictus in May was 165. I was stoked about this and feel like I could go >200 next time. My clean and Jerk is going up big time now.

Then, Jackie. I picked this to work on a good metcon that wouldn't kill by back too much from the rough hockey game last night. We were undermanned and i played about 40 of the 45 minutes. Long story short, 7:56 with a 32 second run from the rowers and thrusters to get to an open pull-up bar. I know I could have probably rushed the thrusters by 10-15 seconds and the pullups by 10-15 seconds, but I feel good about pushing hard and getting within 1:30 of the top guys form the qualifiers. The competition with Jason is great and very motivating, but sometimes it is good to put in a good effort and not worry about whether or not i came out on top today. Just a good WoD and a good effort. Aubri put in a great effort and pushed hard the whole way. I forget the exact time, but it was just over 12 min.
