hockey legs

It's playoffs for hockey, which means more games and playing time and more intense play. Both of which I love. Unfortunately, i am realizing that running the day after hockey means jell-o legs. We won last night, taking us to round two. Not bad for the last place team. today's WoD may have been affected by the intensity, but still a good WoD.

Five rounds for time of:
95 pound Power snatch, 15 reps
Run 400 meters
18:24
The snatches felt pretty good. I did round one unbroken, round 2 in 2 sets, round 3 in 3 sets and 4 and 5 in 4 sets. The runs killed me, though. The first was 1:40 and I think one might have been just over 2 minutes, but they were all generally under 2 minutes. I am usually under 1:50 or 1:40 for all, but the jumps for the snatches also killed my legs. I started to change between a quarter squat catch and a higher jump with a catch in a full stand to alternate between a tax on legs vs arms. It was definitely good for my form work to feel the difference.

I am also ending my second round of CFSB this week. My work on SP ended tonight with a 1rm of 175. That is a PR by 5 lbs, but a little disappointing. I had hoped for 180 and was very close. In all fairness, i didn't hit it as often this period as last, but my 3rm was 165, so I thought 180 was doable. We'll see what the OHS and DL 1rm are later this week.

I am head to CA for the weekend, but when I get back I have a plan. I am ready for something a little different. Crossfit Oneworld ran a 30 day strength program to improve GPP. they started 8/4 and end on 9/1. The pre and post test are:
One hour to complete the following:
* Run 400m for time
* Row 500m for time
* 100 pull-ups for time
* 100 push-ups for time
* 100 Abmat sit-ups (unanchored) for time
* 100 squats for time
You can sequence and space them however you want, but you have to complete all in one hour. If I can get better at all of these in 30 days, that is a big improvement for me. They show their results in the next day or two. So, barring any bad results posted on their site, i will try their last 30 days' programing. This will give me an opportunity to try something new and work on some basic CF skills. I may start a bastard version of CFSB with gymnastics skills too, we'll see.

Jason, your welcome to join me, I start on 9/9.
