Making gains

Today was Nate. This is one that really challenges me with both muscle ups and HSPU.
AMRAP
2 muscle ups
4 HSPU
8 2 pood KB swings
8 2/3 +4 swings
I am really happy with the performance on this. This is the first time I did as Rx with the HSPU and my muscle ups went a lot better with only 2 or 3 misses because I forgot to tape and got slippery. I wanted to get 9, but just barely ran out of time. I had to wait for one other guy to finish his mups a couple of times, so I probably could have gotten in 9 rounds + some if I was free to move on my own. I had to slow a bit on HSPU, but I stillkept cranking them out better than ever before on this wod.

I am getting more familiar with the GHD and the concept of 'just keep moving' but this was a tough one. my runs were roughly 2:45, 3:28 and 3:40. I wanted sub 3 min on all, but running after GHD was dicey. I was in a bit of vertigo and it was hard to get the body moving in the first 200M, after that, it was just a matter of pushing harder. On the GHDs, I need to remember, mid wod, that taking a break doesn't make is suck any less, so just keep getting in reps. I need to break up my sets less. I was relatively happy, since my last time was >24 minutes with anchored standard sit-ups.

I was so close to sub 30, but my last climb failed to reach full 15 foot height. It was a mental error and it cost me. I should have just pushed it, but I didn't. This was, however, only the second time I have done rope climbs in a Wod, so I was happy to complete 27 (plus 7/8ths) in one WoD. The fastest times were 22-ish, but I think I could get close to that with my improving comfort with rope climbs. The thrusters were intentionally broken with a short rest break (3-5 breaths) to not overly tax myself for the climbs. I gamed it a bit, but I think it paid off. Next time, balls to wall. I also learned that I need to wear pants and prep my legs for climbs. I have a NASTY rope burnon the right ankle and bruising on both inner knees. This was tough, but I think some prep could help for next time. Since this is by far the most rope climbs in a wod, I'm not too worried about the next one. Except for maybe the wod with L-pullups and L-climbs.

So the last 3 wods have included progress on rope climbs, GHDs and HSPU. Not a bad cycle.
