I started with a 385x3 deadlift PR. I skipped my longer warm up and went for it on my second set and got it with no problem. I see a 415 1rm soon.
Push Press 7x1
185,195,205,215,225(fail),225(fail)225 (?)
Things were going fine until I failed at 225. I was REAL close on the second attempt, but still failed. I got my head into it, got ready and...
got stuck short of lockout. I refused to let it come back down and fought tooth and nail with that weight overhead for what seemed like 8 seconds (again, just short of lockout). It crept up slowly and my elbows locked just as I blacked out. That's right, with 225 overhead, everything went black. It only lasted a split second and I was able to direct the falling weight back to the guards as it CRASHED and got everyone's attention. As far as I can tell, I locked it out just as I passed on to the 'other side', but I can't be 100% sure. For now I'll document 215, as that was my last successful lift. I guess I should have tried 220 at least once. Oh well.
I met with my PT again today and he took me through some stuff I have been bad about keeping up with the lat stretches and I think that is one of the bigger limits to my jerk form and some of the heavier overhead lifts (c+j and push press and maybe HSPU). I'll get back into it and see if it helps.
My goal for tomorrow is also 8 minutes. I got just over 10 last time and I want to nail it this time. Hmmm, should I pace the early minutes or just go all out and hope I don't die too early. we'll see.
