Today was the infamous row, burpee, run wod. My previous time on this wod was over 18 minutes. I did the row on a rower, normal burpees and the run on the treadmill. This time, I wanted to avoid the treadmill so I resigned myself to try the sub of 50 SDHP at 45 pounds instead of a row. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I wanted to try something different. Here were my splits:
SDHP:1:18, 1:33, 2:01
burpees:1:27, 1:45, 1:58
run:1:48, 1:59, 1:59
Total = 15:50
I was thrilled with this as I wanted sub 2 minutes on everything. I took 3 short breaks on the third set of SDHP (too many) which put it just a hair over 2 minutes. I was truly surprised that my runs were all sub 2 as the felt like I was barely moving. My legs were just toast after the pulls and burpees. I didn't look at my watch except when hitting the lap button, so it was interesting that I hit 1:58 or 1:59 3 times.
On the sub, I think I could hit 1:35, 1:45 and 2:00 on the splits (conservatively) if I were to do this on a rower, so I may need to add 30 seconds plus maybe 10 or 15 seconds to get in and out of the foot plates. That means a time of 16:35 if I were to do on a rower. Not a bad sub.
Before this I did the CFSB wod of shoulder press with a 3RM of 160 and 15,12,9 at 95 pounds. 160 was surprisingly manageable and I will try for 165 next time. I don't know how I could possibly get 21.15,9 at 95. Just getting 21 straight will take it all out of me. We'll see next week. Can't argue with the results.
