I needed to make up the 5K from this week, but I also needed to establish a base time for the 10K, so i ran the 10K tonight. I am very much not a runner, and I realized that this was the longest single run I have ever taken. As result I learned a couple of things.
1) I should not have tried different shoes. I now have a blister on my left arch
2) I need to figure out my pacing better. I ran the first 5K loop just 4 seconds off my personal best.
Realizing I was not going to make it through the second in a consecutive cycle. I took roughly a 3 minutes rest at my driveway before completing the second loop. I competed the whole thing in about 50 minutes (including the rest break). Not a great time, but a starting point.
I think I may need an abacus for tomorrow's WoD, but at least it won't involve any running.
